JAKARTA - The Muhammad Husni Thamrin aka MHT Awards will be held this August 2022 by PWI Jakarta and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. After the last two years it was implemented in a hybrid manner, this time it is hoped that it will be different and more interesting. This year there were 491 journalistic works from various media that were assessed by the committee.

The highlight of the 48th Muhammad Husni Thamrin Journalistic Award in 2022 must be more interesting and lively than before. There are also far more participants from the journalism competition in collaboration with PWI Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Diskominfo.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the culmination of the MH Thamrin Journalistic Award event for the last two years, namely 2020 and 2021, to be held in a hybrid manner in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Pattern Room.

Even though the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Rasyid Baswedan, attended directly, the excitement of the award presentation to the winners of the competition was still felt to be less, compared to the usual place at the Great Hall.

Although it is possible that the top event of the Anugerah MH Thamrin 2022 event will be held again in a hybrid, direct and virtual combination, efforts are still being made to hold it elsewhere.

The Great Hall is the main option. There is a proposal at JIS, Jakarta International Stadium, in the Sunter area. "We can also hold it at JIS, which is now a trend," said PWI Jaya Chairperson Sayid Iskandarsyah, in a virtual meeting with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Diskominfotik, Tuesday 10 May.

"JIS is too big," responded Ika Meilani Untari from Diskominfotik. "Have to look for options elsewhere," he exclaimed.

Another suggestion is to hold it in an open space (outdoor) such as the area belonging to the DKI Provincial Government in Banteng Square, Central Jakarta. "Maybe it can be an alternative, just make a tent," said Guntur Ramadhan from Diskominfotik.

"We both hope that the award ceremony for the winners of the 2022 MH Thamrin Journalism Award can be held more lively, no longer a hybrid like the last two years. This hope can be realized if the conditions are far different too, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to slow down," said Sayid Iskandarsyah.

The peak event of the 47th MH Thamrin Journalistic Award in 2022 was originally projected to be held on 24 August. However, it is possible to move it forward to 10 or 12 August 2022.

The MH Thamrin Journalistic Award represents the dynamics of the development of DKI Jakarta. For the 48th MHT Awards in 2022, there are still 7 categories of journalistic works to be contested. These works will be published in print, electronic and online media between June 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022.

At the 47th MHT Awards in 2021, the committee selected 491 journalistic works from seven categories. The details are 177 text categories, 58 photo categories, 95 terrestrial TV video categories, 48 streaming TV video categories, 12 radio categories, 49 infographic categories, and 52 editorial categories.

To further stimulate the implementation of the 2022 MHT Awards, several supporting events will be held, such as webinars involving the general public and students.

"The theme can be related to Jakarta's growth in global interactions, or other themes that are relevant to the MH Thamrin Journalism Award," said Ika Meilani Untari.

The chairman of the 2022 MHT Awards committee, Budi Nugraha, believes he can hold two webinars in July and early August.
