JAKARTA - Former Chief of Staff of the Command for the Restoration of Security and Order (Kopkamtib) General (Purn) Widjojo Soejono died at the Kartika Pavilion of the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 11.

Head of Information Center (Kapuspen) TNI Major General Praantara Santosa said Widjojo died on Wednesday morning at around 04.43 WIB due to illness at the age of 94.

The body of the deceased is buried at the funeral home, Jalan Karang Asem 1 No. 4-6, RT08/RW02, Kuningan Timur Village, Setia Budi District, South Jakarta.

"It is planned that General (Ret.) Widjojo Soejono will be buried militarily at the Main National Heroes Cemetery, Kalibata, South Jakarta, on Wednesday at 13.30 WIB," said Prantara in a written statement in Jakarta quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman visited Widjojo's funeral home. Dudung expressed his deepest condolences for the death of the best son of the Indonesian Army.

"We can make an example of the deceased's dedication to the nation and state during his life; and we pray that the deceased will have a noble place with Allah SWT, all his mistakes will be forgiven, the family left behind will be given fortitude," said Dudung. Dudung will also be the inspector of Widjojo's funeral at TMP Kalibata.

General (Purn) Widjojo Soejono was born in Tulungagung, May 9, 1928, and married Mrs. Siti Mastoechajah. They have five children, namely Enny Lukitaning Diah, Wedhia Purwaningsih, Ariyati Sihwarini, Hardini Surjaningsih, and Budhi Soejono.
