West Kalimantan Regional Police Arrests Students Who Create Whatsapp Groups The Contents Of Provocation Of The Job Creation Law Demo

JAKARTA - The West Kalimantan Regional Police have arrested the perpetrator of the demonstration with the initials YA who created the Whatsapp "Futsal" group. In the group, the content provoked its members to protest against the Omnisbus Job Creation Law .

Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Regional Police, Kombes Donny Charles Go said, the perpetrator who was secured with the initials YA is still a student.

He explained, on October 9, 2020 the West Kalimantan Police cyber team managed to find and secure one perpetrator with the origin of YA who made a Whatsapp group to coordinate and invite him to take part in a demonstration held by the student alliance in Pontianak City.

Previously, the perpetrator participated in a consolidation activity at one of the campuses in Pontianak City. Donny continued, after participating in the consolidation activity, YA created a Whatsapp group with the name "Futsal" consisting of 11 members. The YA perpetrator asked to prepare himself to take part in the demonstration by bringing equipment such as stones and pilox paint.

"Because the post contained provocative content and fake news, the cyber team secured the perpetrator with evidence from the Whatsapps group screenshots . The investigation will also involve linguists for handling it," Donny said in an official statement reported by Antara , Tuesday, October 13.

In addition to revealing the case of demonstration provocateurs, on October 12, 2020 the West Kalimantan Regional Police also secured a man who made hoax and misleading comments on Facebook social media by stating that someone had died due to post-student demonstration violence on October 8 and 9 2020 at the West Kalimantan DPRD Building

"Furthermore, the cyber team also secured a man aged EB (49) who gave comments or hoax information in one of the video posts of the demo activities yesterday," said Donny.

Donny also said that related to the perpetrator's comments on Facebook, the West Kalimantan Regional Police also asked for the testimony of the linguist witness. The perpetrator is currently detained by the Cyber Crime Sub-Directorate for the Special Criminal Investigation Department of the West Kalimantan Police, for explaining or sharing fake news that does not match the facts where no victim died during a demonstration that was held on 8-9 October 2020 at the West Kalimantan DPRD Building .

In order to anticipate the circulation of hoax information that could cause disturbances to security and public order, his party has increased cyber patrol activities.

Donny also invited the people of West Kalimantan to be wise in using social media and not easily provoked and helped spread when they received information that was not yet clear.
