Officers Are Busy Cleaning Tebet Exo Park Visitor Garbage

JAKARTA - On the last day of the Eid holiday season, Tebet Eco Park is still full of visitors from various regions. Since it opened from 6 am to this afternoon, the 7 hectare city park has never been quiet.

The large number of visitors to the park, which was recently revitalized by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, was acknowledged by one of the cleaners, named Rian.

"From yesterday to yesterday, (visitors of the Tebet Eco Park) have been as busy as this, because of the Eid holiday as well," Rian said when met by VOI at Tebet Eco Park, Tebet, South Jakarta, Sunday, May 8.

Since this afternoon, Rian and his fellow janitors from the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forests Service have been busy cleaning up the garbage scattered all over the park.

At Tebet Eco Park, there are around 40 cleaners who work in two shifts, namely the first shift from 06.00 to 14.00 WIB, and the second shift from 12.00 to 20.00 WIB.

Unfortunately, not all visitors have the awareness to maintain cleanliness. Quite a number of visitors leave food and beverage packaging waste in the grass area of Tebet Eco Park, which is used as a place to rest and sit back.

In fact, the manager of Tebet Eco Park provides many trash cans which are quite close together.

"Indeed, some visitors are obedient, some are not. There are still many who litter," said Rian.

Rian admits that he is quite tired of cleaning up the garbage from visitors who must always be transported around the park. However, for him, it was a job risk. "Definitely tired. But, it's called work, just enjoy it," he said.

For information, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan officially opened the Tebet Eco Park on Saturday, April 23. Tebet Eco Park presents ecosystem restoration and naturalization of green and blue open spaces, as well as providing park facilities that accommodate a variety of residents' activities.

"This indeed functions as a retention pond during the rainy season, and the concept is natural, when the dry season will recede. (Optimistic to hold water) around here, yes," said Anies at Tebet Eco Park, South Jakarta, during the inauguration.

Anies said that the river flow around Tebet will be channeled to a number of water pools in the Tebet Eco Park so that its function as water absorption will be effective.

According to him, the Tebet Eco Park concept also uses natural vegetation and embankments, as well as soil bioengineering techniques in waterways in the park.

According to him, the concept serves to help increase the capacity of rainwater storage. Thus, Anies continued, water quality can be improved and biodiversity can be restored.

In addition, the Tebet Eco Park, which also functions to facilitate community activities to interact and play for children, has increased the number of park revitalization in Jakarta, which now has more than 90 parks with the concept of a playground.
