PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu Suggests Kiai Syaikhona Kholil Bangkalan To Get The National Hero Title

JAKARTA - PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu conveyed that PKS proposed to the government that Kiai Syaikhona Kholil Bangkalan be awarded the title of national hero. PKS Ahmad Syaikhu in his statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, May 8.

PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu emphasized that it was very appropriate for Syaikhona Kholil to be named a national hero. Syaikhu also said that Syaikhona Kholil was the teacher of the two biggest Indonesian scholars who gave birth to the largest Islamic organizations Nahdhatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah, KH Hasyim Asyari and KH Ahmad Dahlan. President of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Ahmad Syaikhu made a series of Syawal visits in East Java. Syaikhu started his visit with a pilgrimage to the tomb of Syaikhona Cholil, Saturday 7 May. Syaikhu departed from Surabaya in the early hours of the morning, then drove to the residence of KH Thoha Kholili, the great-grandson of Syaikhona Kholil, then together went to the Syaichona Moh Kholil Pesarean Mosque Bangkalan Madura to perform the morning prayer in congregation. At dawn, the group made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Syaikhona Kholil in the mosque complex. In the current management of the PKS, Syaikhu has made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Syaikhona Kholil twice. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the East Java PKS DPW, Irwan Setiawan, has also made 3 pilgrimages.

Chairman of the East Java PKS DPW Irwan Setiawan on the same occasion said that the East Java PKS DPW ranks had proposed through members of the DPRD from PKS. PKS went to Madura and made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Syaikhona Kholil reinforces PKS's attitude to fight for Syaikhona Kholil to be confirmed by the government as a national hero.
