Jokowi Asks His Ranks To Focus On Reducing The Number Of COVID-19 In 12 City Districts

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked his staff to focus on reducing the number of COVID-19 in 12 districts / cities that have more than 1,000 active cases. He asked, the process of reducing this case must be proven within 2 weeks.

"I also ask that in the next two weeks we prioritize 12 districts / cities with more than 1,000 active cases or those that account for 30 percent of active national cases," Jokowi said when opening a limited meeting regarding the handling of COVID-19 and national economic recovery which was broadcast on the YouTube account. Five of the 12 regencies and cities that are prioritized because they have more than 1,000 active cases are in the DKI Jakarta Province, namely North Jakarta City, Central Jakarta City, West Jakarta City, South Jakarta City and East Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the other seven cities are Ambon City, Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi Regency, Jayapura City, Padang City and Pekanbaru City.

Even though he asked his staff to focus on reducing the number of active COVID-19 cases in 12 districts and cities, he still asked the provinces that were the priority handling should be given attention. In addition, he also requested that tracing, testing, and treatment must be fixed so that there are no more significant differences between one province and another.

"Then the important thing is to keep pressing positive cases by continuing to convey the importance of disciplined health protocols. I noted that from the existing figures, East Java and South Sulawesi Provinces recorded improvements in COVID control," he said.

"I think this can be used as an example for other provinces," he added.

Previously, based on data as of October 11 issued by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia increased by 4,497 cases, bringing the total accumulation to 333,349 cases. Meanwhile, there were an additional 3,546 cases with recovered cases with an accumulated number of 255,027 cases.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 79 cases with the total accumulation reaching 11,844 cases. The number of specimens examined reached 36,332 and the positivity rate reached 14.5 percent.
