KULON PROGO - The number of tourist visits to Glagah Beach, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Wednesday until 14.00 WIB, reached 10,306 people from various regions of Yogyakarta, Central Java and East Java.

Coordinator of the Glagah Beach Levy Collection (TPR) Agus Subiyanto said the relaxation policy allowing people to go home had a significant impact on tourist visits to Kulon Progo, especially Glagah Beach.

"Today until 14.00 WIB, there are 10,306 tourists. We project that tourist visits will reach 15 thousand tourists by this afternoon. Most tourists from outside the region, if local from Kulon Progo and DIY, are very few," Agus said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 4 .

He said tourist visits to Glagah Beach were increasing every day. On H1 Lebaran there were 2,600 tourists and H2 Lebaran there were around 11 thousand tourists.

"We predict the peak of visits to Glagah Beach on Saturday (7/5) with visits of around 18,000 people," he said.

Agus said at Glagah Beach there are many spots for taking photos and enjoying the beach, namely the lagoon, breakwater and the mouth of the Serang River. Currently, officers from Glagah SAR are on standby to secure visitors. Then the most desirable photo point is the substation that can see Yogyakarta International Airport.

"Tourists from outside the region usually go directly to the breakwater and viewing post towards YIA Airport," he said.

However, Agus said at this time, tourists could not enjoy culinary tourism at Glagah Culinary Plaza. This is because artificial flower garden tours have not yet been completed. Glagah Culinary Plaza traders are still waiting for a flower garden.

"When Glagah Culinary Plaza opened, there was one vendor selling. But now it has closed again, because there are no buyers. Tourists are still focused on the lagoon and breakwater," he said.

One of the SAR V Glagah officers, Danang Susanto, said visitors were very busy at Glagah Beach. The wave height is increasing, but it is still safe for tourists.

"We always monitor tourists, and remind them when bathing on the beach. Currently it is still safe," he said.
