The Batang Ringkus Police, A Firecracker Maker At Takbirian Night

JAKARTA - The Batang Police, Central Java, arrested a firecracker maker from Batang District. The police also confiscated 183 firecrackers during the takbiran night for Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

"We have arrested the perpetrator in connection with the alleged violation of Article 1 paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning Firecrackers," said Batang Police Chief AKBP Mochamad Irwan Susanto in Batang, Monday 2 May, quoted from Antara.

The perpetrator with the initials A, he said, was arrested by the police on Sunday night (1/5) while mixing firecracker powder.

Evidence in the form of 183 firecrackers and a number of firecracker powder were immediately destroyed by immersing them in water to prevent them from exploding, Sunday.

Police Chief AKBP Irwan Susanto said from the results of the information the perpetrator admitted that the firecrackers made would be traded.

As for the disclosure of the case, he said, it started with public reports about the alleged production of firecracker powder in the local area.

"We appreciate the community who have helped and cooperated with the authorities so as to create a good kamtibmas," he said.

He said that during the fasting month, his party had secured as much as 2,100 grams of drugs and firecrackers ready to explode and had been destroyed.

The perpetrator will be subject to Article 1 of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with a maximum threat of 20 years in prison.
