JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo wish you a Happy Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

"With all humility, my family and I wish you a Happy Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri. Sorry to be born and inner heart," President Jokowi said in a video that was shown on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel on Sunday, May 1.

"I also wish you a Happy Eid, sorry to be born and inner heart," said Mrs. Iriana.

Both expressed their gratitude because this year people can go home and gather with their families in their hometowns. "Alhamdulillah, this year's Eid we have been able to gather with family, meet parents, relatives, and relatives in our hometown," added the President.

President Jokowi on April 2, 2022 announced that the government would allow people to go home this year on condition that they complete vaccines and maintain health protocols. The government has set collective leave on April 29 and May 4-6, 2022. This means that people have vacation time on April 29-8 May 2022.

Previously, the Tarjih Council and the Central Leadership Tajdid (PP) of Muhammadiyah had set 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijriah or Eid al-Fitr to fall on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religion stated that by reckoning the position of the first hilal of Shawwal in Indonesia had met the new criteria for the Minister of Religion of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) on May 1 or 29 Ramadan 1443 Hijri.

The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religion, Kamaruddin Amin, said that on May 1, 2022, the height of the new moon is between 4 degrees 0.59 minutes to 5 degrees 33.57 minutes with an elongation angle of 4.89 degrees to 6.4 degrees.

According to the new MABIMS criteria, rukyat imkanur is considered eligible if the position of the new moon reaches a height of 3 degrees with an elongation angle of 6.4 degrees.

Thus, 1 Shawwal or Eid al-Fitr 2022 may fall on May 2, 2022. However, the determination will only be announced after holding the Isbat 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijri Session on Sunday after the process of observing the new moon at 99 monitoring points.
