Three Buildings In North Barito Caught Fire, No Casualties

BARITO - At least three buildings consisting of two semi-permanent houses and a two-door barracks and a pickup truck caught fire on Jalan Cempaka Raya RT 10 Jambu Village, North Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan, on Sunday, May 1 morning.

"There were no casualties in this fire, but property losses are estimated to be in the hundreds of millions," said the Head of Emergency and Logistics of the North Barito Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Rizali Hadi in Muara Teweh, Antara, Sunday afternoon.

The fire incident which occurred at around 05.00 WIB in the drizzling rain shocked the residents of Jambu Village, Teweh Baru District, because they were resting at the end of the month of Ramadan 1433 Hijri.

Information received stated that the origin of the fire came from the barracks owned by H Atta which was rented by two residents, then spread to the house of the barrack owner at the front and another resident, namely Muliadi's, Rudy Irawan.

Efforts to extinguish the fire were carried out by the local community, assisted by North Barito BPBD personnel, local Regency Government Firefighters, TNI and Firefighters volunteers by deploying each of four units of water supply tanks and equipment from BPBD and Firefighters, operational cars and equipment.

According to him, the condition of two houses with semi-permanent construction and a barracks with two doors were in severe damage, while a house belonging to Johansyah in the kitchen area was slightly damaged and the front of the pickup truck caught fire.

"This fire is under investigation by the police," said Rizali.
