JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi hopes that Eid 2022/Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah will take place simultaneously between government decisions and Islamic community organizations.

"Hopefully this year's Eid we can all be together," said Zainut, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 28.

Zainut's hope is based on the calculation of reckoning regarding the position of the new moon or moon. By May 1, the position of the new moon is already quite high, which is more than three degrees above the horizon, in accordance with the criteria of the Minister of Religion of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS).

With this calculation, it is almost certain that the new moon can be observed or recorded, so that the government's version of 1 Shawwal from the results of the isbat session is estimated to fall on May 2.

The isbat session for the initial determination of Shawwal will be held on Sunday, May 1. If the isbat assembly decides that 1 Shawwal falls on May 2, it means that the majority of Muslims in Indonesia will celebrate Eid simultaneously. Previously PP Muhammadiyah had set 1 Shawwal on May 2 based on the results of the ultimate reckoning of the hilal.

"The isbat trial will be held May 1, hopefully the new moon team spread throughout the archipelago will see the new moon. The hope is the same (simultaneously), but for certainty we are still waiting for the results of the isbat trial," he said.

If later there is a difference in the determination of 1 Shawwal, the Deputy Minister of Religion asks for mutual respect, as was the case when determining 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijriah.

"If for example there is a difference in the name, yes, we must accept the difference. Hopefully there will be no difference in determining 1 Shawwal," he said.

Previously, the Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Guidance at the Ministry of Religion, Adib, said that his party invited Islamic social organizations (ormas) and ambassadorial representatives at the Isbat Session (determination) early in Shawwal 1443 H on May 1.

The Ministry of Religion also invited Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, academics from a number of universities, leaders of Islamic boarding schools as well as astronomers and astronomers.

Because it's still a pandemic, said Adib, the early isbat session of Syawal 1443 H was held online and offline. Offline, the ISBAT session was held at the HM Rasjidi Auditorium, the Indonesian Ministry of Religion Office, Jakarta. Participants who take part online are facilitated through the Zoom application.

"The implementation of the isbat session begins with an explanation of the position of the new moon by the Ministry of Religion's Hijri Calendar Unification Team, followed by information on the results of the rukyatul hilal which was held at 99 points throughout Indonesia. Furthermore, the beginning of Shawwal 1443 H will be determined by considering the results of reckoning and rukyat results, as well as input from trial participants," he said.
