Jokowi: We Are Inviting Input From The Public Regarding The Job Creation Law

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the Job Creation Omnibus Law would require many derivative regulations, such as Government Regulations (PP) and Presidential Regulations (Perpres). Jokowi opens up space for the public to provide input to the government regarding matters that need to be included in the derivative regulations.

"After this there are PP and Presidential Decrees which we will complete no later than three months after it is promulgated. We, the government, open and invite input from the public and are still opening up suggestions and input from the regions," Jokowi said in his statement broadcast on the Secretariat YouTube account. President, Friday, October 9.

Jokowi emphasized that the Job Creation Law which was passed on Monday, October 5 will have a positive impact on millions of Indonesians, especially for the workforce to improve their lives and livelihoods.

"And if there is still, if there is still dissatisfaction with this Job Creation Law, please submit a judicial review through the Constitutional Court," he said.

"Our constitutional system does say that. So if there are still those who are not satisfied and refuse, please submit a judicial review to the Constitutional Court," added the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Previously, the Job Creation Law which was approved for ratification by the DPR received rejection from the community, especially the workers. The climax was that the workers and students staged a demonstration against the law on Thursday, August 8 yesterday.

Meanwhile, with regards to derivative regulations, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said he had been ordered by Jokowi to make a Government Regulation (PP) derived from the Omnibus Law on Employment Creation. This derivative regulation is intended to simplify business types and procedures in the regions.

"There will be a government regulation to evaluate and identify what types of businesses should be simplified and what procedures. That is the President's order and he orders it to be completed at the latest two months," said Tito at a conference held to straighten out the issue of the Omnibus Law Cipta. The work was also attended by a number of Forward Indonesian Cabinet Ministers and broadcast on the Coordinating Minister for the Economy YouTube account, Wednesday, October 7.

The PP, continued Tito, must be completed immediately so that the middle class and lower class people, especially those who want to open a shop, restaurant, or open other businesses that are engaged in creative fields, will find it easier to absorb labor.
