Update On COVID-19 As Of October 7: New Cases Of 4,094, Positivity Rate Dropped To 14.4 Percent

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 44,700 specimens were examined with the results of 4,094 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 324,658 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Friday, October 9.

Cases recovered today increased by 3,607 so that a total of 247,667 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 97 people and a total of 11,677 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 943 new cases and a total of 84,315 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by West Java, which has 504 new cases with a total of 26,763 cases. Central Java has 412 new cases and a total of 25,673 cases. East Java has 310 new cases and a total of 46,405 cases. Then, West Sumatra has 295 new cases and a total of 8,119 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 850 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 563 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 306 recovered cases, and Central Java with an additional 210 recovered cases.

Then, there are 4 provinces that reported no new cases today. The provinces are North Maluku, Maluku, Lampung and Riau Islands.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 3,683,808. In detail, 3,621,939 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 61,869 using a molecular rapid test (TCM).

The percentage of positive cases from all specimens examined fell 0.1 percent, from 14.5 percent yesterday to 14.4 percent today. "The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.4 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was 149,115 people. Currently, 500 districts / cities out of 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
