Response To Survey Results, Staff Of Minister Of State Secretary: Decline In Public Satisfaction Natural Democratic Process

JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of State Secretary Faldo Maldini said the decline in public satisfaction with the government of President Joko Widodo is a natural thing in a democracy.

"The decline in public satisfaction and its increase is a natural process in a democracy. It means that every party, the media and civil society organizations have the freedom to express their own views, including critical views on the government's performance," said Faldo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 27. .

Based on a survey of Indonesian Political Indicators on April 14-19 2022 of 1,220 respondents, the level of satisfaction of respondents with the performance of President Joko Widodo's government is 59.9 percent.

The level of satisfaction is reduced because in early January 2022 it reached 75.3 percent or the highest during the administration of President Jokowi / Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

"Entering the second term, President Jokowi is still in full control of the government. Within the government, the confidence of every state official is very high to achieve the various targets to be completed," added Faldo.

In the future, he said, the government will try to answer the public's expectations shown in the survey by working much harder.

The Indonesian Political Indicators Survey also showed that 38.6 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with President Jokowi's performance. Details: 30.5 percent answered less satisfied and 8.1 percent not satisfied at all.

The main reason for the decrease in satisfaction levels was because the prices of basic necessities increased by 38.9 percent. Another reason is the government's lack of alignment with the small people by 9.7 percent.

Regarding the results of the Kompas Survey Institute on April 5-9, 2022, 504 respondents from 34 provinces assessed that the Government was more focused on building the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago than paying attention to the economic conditions of the people, which was 51.3 percent. Faldo said that when the survey was conducted the Government was actively preparing for IKN.

"Indeed, when the survey was carried out, the biggest government event was about IKN, that was the biggest public news at that time. Therefore, other work that the government had done a lot was not on the main stage," continued Faldo.

According to Faldo, if the survey was conducted in April 2020, the government would be perceived as more focused on the lockdown than other matters.

"Because at that time we had just entered the epidemic period. If the survey is next month, the government may be perceived as more focused on taking care of going home, even though it's not just going to be managed by the government," he said.

Faldo revealed that this perception is a matter of public communication in various big moments.

"So, we hope for support from media partners to discuss government programs from various sectors continuously," said Faldo.

The Kompas survey also shows that 66.3 percent of respondents think that the government is unable to control the increase in the price of basic commodities during the month of Ramadan. In addition, 43.8 percent of respondents think that the government is unable to ensure the availability of basic commodities.
