West Kalimantan Pamtas Task Force Tightens 'Title Route' To Prevent Illegal Migrant Workers Entering And Exiting Malaysia

PONTIANAK - The RI-Malaysia Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) Yonif Makanis 643/Wanara Sakti has tightened illegal roads aka "rat lanes" in the border area of West Kalimantan.

"Towards Eid Al-Fitr, there has been an increase in border crossing violations from illegal PMIs using illegal routes, especially in the right and left sector Border Patrol Inspection Lines at PLBN Entikong," said Information Officer (Papen) of the Pamtas Task Force Yonif Makanis 643/Wns Captain Chk. Indra Ismana, in Entikong, Sanggau, was reported by Antara, Tuesday, April 26.

As long as the Pamtas 643/Wns Task Force is on duty, cases of illegal border crossing violations are common cases, and are the number one illegal activity at the RI-Malaysia border.

"During our time on duty, we encountered a lot of illegal border crossers in the rat lane, especially when the Entikong PLBN had not been opened. We will hand over the illegally entered trademark for further processing to the Immigration Office, while the luggage is handed over to the Customs and Excise," he said.

According to him, in addition to conducting routine patrols once a week, the Pamtas Task Force also frequently conducts joint patrols once a month with relevant agencies such as those from Customs, Quarantine and Immigration.

In addition to cross-border violations, the Pamtas 643/Wns Task Force also managed to thwart drug smuggling attempts from Malaysia on several occasions.

"One month ago we managed to thwart an attempt by a PMI to smuggle 495 ecstasy drugs in the Pos Pangah area, Entikong District," he said.

For the Entikong PLBN area, the Pamtas 643/Wns Task Force has twice thwarted attempts to smuggle 1.3 grams of methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs.

"We will continue to increase patrol activities to prevent illegal activities and the smuggling of illegal goods, including drug smuggling," he said.
