BANDUNG - The man with the initials ES (31) who is suspected of buying and selling and keeping 40 rare birds has been secured by the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit. SE was arrested in Jelekong Village, Bandung Regency, West Java.

According to him, the perpetrator got the rare bird from transactions on social media, then the perpetrator also sold the bird through social media by way of direct transactions with buyers.

"These are sold by the perpetrators for a range of Rp. 2 million to Rp. 3 million, it depends on the type of bird," said Kusworo at the location of the arrest, Tuesday, April 26. The 40 birds consisted of four species or species. These included two yellow-crested cockatoos (cacatua sulphurea), 35 tanimbar cockatoos (cacatua goffiniana), two parrots (eclectus poratus), and one black-headed musk (lorius lory).

Kusworo ensured that the sale and purchase was an illegal act because the perpetrator did not have a permit from the relevant agency or institution.

The perpetrator keeps the bird in his residence, which is located in a residential area with a narrow alley and far from the main highway. The birds were kept in the perpetrator's bird cage.

According to Kusworo, the act of buying and selling rare animals has been carried out by the perpetrators for three years. Now the police are still investigating to find buyers of these rare birds. As a result of his actions, ES was charged with Article 40 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 21 paragraph (2) letters a and b of Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources. and its ecosystem, with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of Rp. 100 million. Kusworo said now the birds have been secured for care by the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) and then deposited in Lembang Park and Zoo.
