JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan expressed concern that a new cluster of COVID-19 would emerge against demonstrators and campuses, following a demonstration against the Job Creation Law in Jakarta.

"Later we will see (for tracing), which is clear that I am worried, including about the crowd, because everything is at risk," said Anies at the Hotel Indonesia Jakarta roundabout, reported by Antara, Thursday, October 9.

For that reason too, after meeting the demonstrators to calm him down, Anies asked all demonstrators to be orderly and return to their homes.

"Therefore, we convey our appreciation to the gentlemen at the Jaya Regional Military Command and Polda Metro Jaya who have facilitated their return home," said Anies.

As for Pangdam Jaya, TNI Major General Dudung Abdurachman admitted that his party had coordinated with various campuses to secure students.

"We have coordinated for safekeeping, and we deliver them by truck to campus," said Dudung.

Regarding the points of chaos, Dudung said that currently around ring one it is safe.

"Now it's gone, everything is conducive," said Dudung.

Previously, Anies met demonstrators who were concentrated at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout and asked them to order them and leave the location of the demonstration, then most of the protesters were sent back using military trucks destined for campuses.

He was informed that there were about 18 Transjakarta bus stops that were burned and damaged by unidentified mobs, two police posts were burned, the ESDM Ministry building was damaged and several roads were closed, as a result of demonstrations protesting the Employment Creation Law.

The crowd, consisting of university students and high school students, reportedly clashed with police around the Gajah Museum on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat and Harmoni, West Jakarta.

The crowd at the Elephant Museum were successfully beaten back, clashed again at the Arjuna Widjaja Statue Roundabout, and even a police post was burned by rioters.

As is known, a number of elements of society, students and laborers have held a protest against the ratification of the Job Creation Act by the DPR RI at a number of locations in Jakarta and other areas in Indonesia since last Monday.
