JAKARTA - General Manager of Operation ASTRA Cipali Toll Road, Suyitno, said as many as 16,402 four-wheeled vehicles were observed to have passed the Palimanan Toll Gate (GT) despite the rainy weather on Monday.

"Traffic conditions at the Palimanan GT on Monday, April 25, 2022 were monitored smoothly with rainy weather. The data recorded as of noon was 16,402 vehicles," said Suyitno as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 25.

Suyitno said the number was obtained by his party after recording the number of vehicles with class I that passed this Monday.

The number in class I is far less than the number of class I vehicles that passed on Sunday (24/4), namely 19,178 units.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring until 20:53 WIB, the types of vehicles that pass through the Palimanan Toll Gate are mini buses and medium-sized buses. This is different from the Cikampek Utama Toll Road, which is often traversed by heavy vehicles such as trucks.

However, traffic is still smooth and safe. There is no accumulation until exiting the Palimanan Toll Gate area. However, it still rained into the night and caused puddles at a number of road points.

"Even with the transfer of the Palimanan GT transaction to the next gate, as the manager of the Cipali ASTRA Toll Road, the Cipali Toll Road continues to provide maximum service to road users," he said.

His party will optimize the opening of substations at the Palimanan Toll Gate for five exits and four entrances. The opening of this substation will be adjusted to the conditions on the ground, in particular the facilities in eight rest areas along the Cipali toll road.

In order to maintain the health protocol, Suyitno said his party had provided free toilet facilities and additional portable toilets. The 24-hour standby service is also optimized to provide maximum service to travelers even though they are on holidays.

"So that road users' journeys are always smooth, safe and comfortable, ASTRA Cipali Toll Road also continues to provide updated information related to Cipali Toll traffic through sharing information media spread along Cipali Toll Road," said Suyitno.

Information is provided through Variable Message Sign (VMS) and social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.

Suyitno appealed to road users to always be orderly in the midst of uncertain weather conditions. Travelers are expected to drive with a minimum speed limit of 60 km/hour and a maximum limit of 100 km/hour. While in rainy conditions the maximum speed limit is 70 km/hour.

GT Palimanan Corporate Communication Theresia Dyah also confirmed that passing vehicles were still dominated by group I, namely private vehicles.

"Update news for Lebaran traffic on April 25 at this time, traffic is still dominated by class I, more private vehicles," said Theresia when contacted by ANTARA in Cirebon, Monday.

Theresia also appealed to all road users to continue to apply health protocols, especially when resting in the nearest rest area.
