JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the DPR from the PKS faction, Amin AK, responded to information from Masinton Pasaribu regarding the connection to the alleged corruption case in the export of cooking oil with fundraising to launch the issue of delaying the 2024 election.

According to him, regardless of whether it is true or not, the information has caused a commotion in the community. It can even erode the level of public trust in the government.

Even so, Amin considered it necessary to take quick and thorough steps to reveal the real facts.

"If the government is able to prove that these allegations are not true, then it will restore public confidence in the government," Amin told VOI, Monday, April 25.

"On the contrary, if it is proven true, then this could be a shameful scandal that becomes a dark record of democracy's journey in the reform era," he continued.

Amin said that so that the disclosure of the cooking oil corruption case was objective and there was no intervention, his party proposed the establishment of a Special Committee for Questionnaire Rights. According to him, this Special Committee is a historical necessity.

"If you are innocent, why are you afraid?" Amin said.

The PKS politician stated that the issue was not as simple as a mere legal issue. But it is also intertwined with political issues and the future of Indonesian democracy.

Therefore, he said, the resolution through political steps by holding a Special Committee for Questionnaire Rights by the DPR is very urgent so that the solution to this problem is completed.

Amin added that the Special Committee for Questionnaire Rights would not only encourage the resolution of legal and political problems, but also the economic side, specifically improving the cooking oil trade system.

"For the people, the resolution of legal cases is important. However, the cooking oil trading system must also be thoroughly addressed. The messy mess of cooking oil for the last 7 months has made people miserable so it doesn't happen again," he concluded.
