Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution: MSMEs Don't Hesitate To Report Requests By Unscrupulous Persons Under The Guise Of THR

JAKARTA - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution said that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) should not hesitate to report requests by individuals under the guise of holiday allowances (THR) to the police.

"Things like that, don't give it. If it's given, it includes extortion (illegal fees). Please report to us the Medan City Government or the police," he said in Medan, North Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 23.

He conveyed this in response to indications of the mode of levy under the guise of THR carried out by unscrupulous mass organizations, officials, and government employees to local MSME actors.

He said that the classic mode always appears when religious holidays are approaching, carried out by individuals who are disturbing local business actors.

"Business actors if they want to give, it is to those in need. It's called a business, sharing sustenance is necessary. But it is even more necessary to look at who is given, and who is in need," he said.

He also emphasized that the Medan City Government, TNI/Polri, and the Attorney General's Office together want to eliminate the habit in society of unnecessary levies.

Based on data from the Medan City Cooperatives and SMEs Service, the number of MSMEs fostered by the Medan City Government is around 27,000 units out of a total of 70,000 units recorded.

"In my opinion, the request for mass organizations under the guise of THR is only because it is approaching Eid day. Even though they have always asked for it before," said Bobby.
