Demonstration Against Job Creation Law In Lampung Ends Confusion

JAKARTA - Demonstrations by students from various universities in Lampung Province in order to reject the Job Creation Law ended in chaos.

The action, which was carried out at the Governor's Office Complex and the Lampung Provincial DPRD Office, in Bandarlampung, started at 10:00 WIB, starting to cause chaos at exactly 16:24 WIB.

The demonstration of anarchism by the masses began with a call to enter the Lampung Provincial DPRD building, and was followed by burning tires and breaking glass of the local building.

Based on observations in the field, a number of police officers and the Civil Service Police Unit suffered injuries due to throwing stones and broken glass.

Apart from police officers and Satpol PP who were victims of stone throwing, there were also protesters who were injured and immediately rushed by the health team to the nearest health facility.

The authorities began to control the crowd and at exactly 16.58 WIB, some of the demonstrators began to leave the demonstration location, but the action against the authorities continued until 17.00 WIB.

According to the narrative of one of the students who took part in the demonstration the action was planned to be carried out peacefully.

"We planned to participate in the beginning because the action would be carried out peacefully, but the situation started to heat up when something provoked," said Ari, one of the students participating in the demonstration, reported by Antara, Wednesday, October 7.

He said a number of provocateurs had been secured by the authorities. "Earlier, what we saw was already secured by the police, for students who purely wanted to voice their aspirations had left the location after the situation heated up," said Ari.
