Basarnas Nias Finds One Drifting Victim In The Nawalo River, The Location Is 3 Kilometers From The Position Of The Overturned Raft

MEDAN - The Nias Basarnas team managed to find one of the two missing victims who were swept away by the Nawalo River in Bawalato District, Nias Regency, North Sumatra.

Victim Satina Laia (4) was found about 3 kilometers from the initial location of the raft carrying the victim and her grandmother overturned.

"It is true that one victim has been found dead in the name of Satina Laia, we found the victim approximately 3 kilometers from the initial location where their raft overturned," said Public Relations of the Nias Basarnas, Asanimu Waruwu, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 21.

According to Asanimu, the victim was found by a joint team and now the body has been handed over to the family. The team then continued to search for another victim who had not been found.

"Today we will start searching for another victim named Gatifina Laia (70)," he explained.

Previously, Gatifina Laia and her granddaughter Tina Laia crossed the fast-flowing Nawalo river using a raft.

The two of them were about to return to their village after taking social assistance at the sub-district office, but unfortunately the raft they were riding overturned and both were lost in the current.

The Nias Basarnas team, assisted by personnel from the Bawalato Sector Police, the Bawalato Koramil, the Nias Regency BPBD and the community continue to search for victims who have not been found.
