Sandiaga Opens G20 Parekraf Side Event, Targets 15 Thousand Jobs

Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno launched the G20 Tourism and Creative Economy Side Event which will target the opening of 10 thousand to 15 thousand new jobs in Indonesia during the implementation of the G20 presidency in Indonesia.

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno launched the G20 Tourism and Creative Economy Side Event which will target the opening of 10 thousand to 15 thousand new jobs in Indonesia during the implementation of the G20 presidency in Indonesia.

"Our target is to create between 10 thousand and 15 thousand new jobs with side events. This is what we hope for," said Sandiaga after meeting with representatives of G20 countries at the launch of the G20 Parekraf Side Event at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 20.

Sandiaga said the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy had designed a number of side events in several regions in Indonesia to promote Indonesian tourism.

Some of these side events such as the International Wellness Tourism Conference and Festival, namely conferences and exhibitions about the rich potential of Indonesian herbs for the use of health, anti-aging, yoga, and healthy foods that Indonesia has. This activity will be held in the city of Solo in August.

The next side event is the Indonesian Creative Appreciation (AKI) which will be a roadshow to 16 Indonesian regencies and cities. AKI is an activity that seeks to develop Indonesian MSMEs by providing guidance and debriefing through bootcamps for these small and medium enterprises. Later, the selected MSME actors will hold exhibitions in the 16 districts and cities.

The third World Conference On Creative Economy will then be held in Bali from 5 to 7 October. This activity was first held in Bali in 2018, in Dubai in 2021, and will return to Bali in 2022.

All of these side event activities will then become one in the main activity of the G20 in the tourism sector, namely World Tourism Day which will be held in Bali on September 27, 2022.

Sandiaga said that the current G20 presidency in Indonesia is an important moment to revive the economy, especially in the tourism and creative economy sectors which have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic for two years.

"We are at a decisive point to make the transition to reorganizing our economy. And we hope this side event is very important, very strategic to enter the three main pillars that we want to convey to the world," said Sandiaga.

The three pillars are about a green economy based on sustainability, a new health architecture so that various G20 countries can strengthen the health architecture, and the third is of course digital transformation.

"Hopefully this is a good start for us, we communicate to the world that Indonesia is ready to hold the G20, ready to revive its economy, ready to restore the sector and open the widest possible employment opportunities," said Sandiaga.
