Megawati: The President Is Clear, There Will Be No Postponement Of Elections!

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri emphasized that there would be no delay in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

So he admitted that he was surprised when there were certain parties who often echoed the issue of the delay. Moreover, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has firmly stated the same thing.

"I'm entering politics. In 2024, it's clear, the president has made it clear that there is no delay, is that not research? Is that research? Where? In an innovation research organization called Otda. The chairman of the BRIN Steering Committee also admitted that he couldn't help but think about those who were looking for trouble by proposing a postponement of the 2024 General Election in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whereas, on the other hand, Megawati said, Indonesia is struggling to deal with problems caused by the massive spread of COVID-19. Thus, the issue of postponing the election has actually made the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government go into a state of flux.

"Isn't it rushed, there has been a pandemic, from the government's point of view, only because of a desire for a postponement that the president has clearly stated that there will be no delay. What else is missing?" Megawati said.

Megawati then said that the issue of postponing the election was actually a political game. So, he rejected the idea in the interest of the people in the country.

"I firmly say that as party leader, there will be no delay at all. It will continue as it is," added Megawati.
