Wild! A Group Of Youths In Jatinegara Throw Firecrackers At A Resident's House, If They Resist, They Are Cut With A Sickle

JAKARTA - An unknown group of people (OTK) carrying sharp weapons (sajam) attacked a residential area on Jalan Bekasi Timur IV, Cipinang Besar Utara, Jatinegara, East Jakarta. The incident took place while the residents were having their meal. One person was reported to have suffered a stab wound to the hand.

The perpetrators who were equipped with sharp weapons, wood and stones attacked the residents indiscriminately. The motive for the attack is not yet known, but the number of perpetrators is estimated to be more than 20 people.

Afrisal, Head of RW 07 Cipinang Besar Utara said this incident was not a brawl but an attack by a group of people to Gang Mayong.

"They brought sickles from the dormitory to Gang Mayong. First, they set off firecrackers, and knocked on the gate to break it," he told reporters, Wednesday, April 20.

When a resident tried to intervene, the perpetrator actually carried out a wild and brutal attack which left the victim seriously injured in the hand.

"One victim has yet to report to the police. He was taken to the hospital and got 15 stitches." he said.

Local residents are also concerned about the vulnerability of the Jatinegara area, which often occurs in brawls and attacks by groups of young people with sharp weapons.

"There is Siskamling here, but because the people who attacked blindly attacked with sharp weapons, the residents fled. Many carried sharp weapons. When all the residents came out and chased them away, they dispersed," he said.

The case is currently being handled by the Jatinegara Police.
