Amien Rais Urges Luhut To Resign, NasDem: Very Domineering, Minister Should Not Stand Out Too Much

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali, also commented on Amien Rais's insistence that the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, resign from his position. Ali said Amien's attitude was a form of his love for the regime of President Joko Widodo. The reason is that Luhut's role is too dominating in the government. "It seems very domineering, even though it's just over expectations, translating the president's wishes, in my opinion," said Ahmad Ali to reporters, Tuesday, April 19. "But that Pak Amien Rais is disappointed with Pak Luhut's attitude, that's a form of Pak Amien Rais' love for (President) Pak Jokowi," he added. The DPR member from NasDem then asked President Jokowi to evaluate his cabinet. Where it should be, there should be no ministerial vision and mission, only ministers can carry out the president's vision and mission. It should be, said Ali, that ministers are aware of their main duties and responsibilities. Do not let the ministers move outside their field of work, let alone seem very powerful.

"So, it's better if the minister doesn't stand out too much, something like that," said Ali. Previously, Chairman of the Ummat Party Syuro Council, Amien Rais, urged Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to immediately resign from his position. The reason is that many Indonesian people no longer trust the Java-Bali PPKM Coordinator.

"Mr Luhut should resign immediately. Most of the civil society, I believe, no longer trust Pak Luhut. Please resign, the sooner, the better," said Amien Rais while attending the Ummah Party One Year Anniversary at the Ummat Party DPP, Sunday , April 17th.

According to the former chairman of the MPR during the Reformation era, there were many reasons why people no longer believed in Luhut Pandjaitan. One of them is Luhut's claim about big data which states that there are 110 million people who support the postponement of the 2024 election.

Amien also encouraged President Jokowi to take the decision to remove Luhut from his position. If he still does not want to resign from his position as minister. In fact, Amien thinks Luhut has narcissistic megalomania.

"If Luhut is reckless and has caught up with his narcissistic megalomania, Pak Jokowi should fire him," he said. "Luhut is no longer a national asset, but has become a liability, a national burden," said Amien.
