Opening The Easter Egg Festival, Anies Wants Jakarta's Public Spaces To Be A Place To Celebrate Religious Holidays

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan hopes that public spaces in Jakarta can be used as places to celebrate religious holidays.

He said this when he opened the Easter Egg Festival at Banteng Square, Central Jakarta. This festival is a series of activities to celebrate Easter Day 2022 held by the DKI Provincial Government.

"We want equality in the city of Jakarta to really exist, equal opportunities and the third space is used for us to be able to welcome religious holidays. That's what happened today and becomes a new chapter, especially for the children who come, hopefully it will be a precious memory for them," said Anies at Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta, Sunday, April 17.

From the Easter Egg Festival, Anies emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government wants equality, unity, and a feeling of togetherness to be present in this city.

In this case, the Easter Egg Festival involves various collaborators, both from the private sector and religious institutions, such as the XVIII National Easter Committee in 2022, St. Parish. Yoseph Matraman, GPIB Ebenhaezer, Punguan Christian Batak Church, SLB B Pangudi Luhur educational institution, Immanuel Bookstore, Lovely Hands Community, and so on.

“Today, we have made a new history in our beloved city, I am here with the complete lineup. We are all happy, because all the collaborators are working together to facilitate so that all Christians in Jakarta celebrate the Easter atmosphere full of joy," said Anies.

Furthermore, Anies considered this activity to be a momentum for revival after the COVID-19 pandemic that had lasted more than two years.

“I am grateful that this year Easter celebrations can be held openly, because the previous two years we had to undergo a period of isolation and now we are getting better. Hopefully this pandemic will end soon," he said.
