US Mentions Lili Pintauli's Ethical Violation, MAKI: Should Immediately Resign From The KPK Because It Is In The Spotlight

JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), Boyamin Saiman, urged the Deputy Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Lili Pintauli Siregar to resign from his position.

This resignation is important because Lili's ethical violation is in the spotlight of all parties, including America. This was conveyed by Boyamin in response to reports on the practice of Human Rights (HAM) in Indonesia issued by the United States (US) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Deplu).

"I ask, urge Mrs. Lili to resign from the KPK because this will continue to be in the spotlight of the modern state, other countries, and the public spotlight because Mrs. Lili has become useless and not useful for the KPK," said Boyamin in his statement to VOI, Saturday, April 16. .

Boyamin also said that it was natural for Lili's ethical violations to be in the spotlight of many parties, especially America as a developed country. Because, it is not uncommon when a state official violates ethics but he chooses not to step down.

"Moreover (the violation, ed) repeatedly and not only violates ethics but with a thick face does not back down, with a thick face still persists in his position," said this anti-corruption activist.

As previously reported, the United States highlighted the ethical violations committed by KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar.

Through its report, the country of Uncle Sam said that Lili had been declared to have violated ethics on August 30, 2021 for making contact with litigants at the KPK, namely the former Tanjungbalai Mayor who was involved in a bribery case. He was judged to have taken advantage of his position and was sentenced to a 40 percent deduction from his basic salary.

"The board ruled that Siregar had inappropriate contact with the subject of the investigation for his own personal gain and imposed a one-year, 40 percent reduction in salary for Siregar for the offence," the English-language report said.

Not only that, the report also mentions the National Insight Test Assessment (TWK) to transfer the status of their employees to state civil servants (ASN).

However, in the end, 75 employees failed, including a number of seasoned investigators, including those who handled the corruption case of former Social Minister Juliari Peter Batubara and former Maritime Minister Edhy Prabowo.

The employees who did not qualify, still from reports issued by America, were those who often criticized the KPK leadership and changes to the institution's laws.
