More Than 900 Bodies Of Civilians Found In Kyiv, 95 Percent Of Gunshot Wounds

JAKARTA - More than 900 civilian bodies have been found in the area around the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. This discovery came after the withdrawal of Russian troops. Most of them died from gunshot wounds.

This amount is even more than double the amount announced two weeks ago by the Ukrainian authorities.

Quoted from the Guardian, Saturday, April 16, Andriy Nebytov, the head of the regional police, explained that the bodies were left on the road or temporarily buried. He cited police data showing that 95% had died from gunshot wounds.

“As a result, we understand that under the occupation, people were simply executed on the streets,” said Nebytov.

More bodies are being found every day, under rubble and mass graves, he said.

According to Nebytov, utility workers in Bucha collected and buried bodies on the outskirts of Kyiv while it remained under Russian control. He said Russian troops were "tracking down" people who expressed strong pro-Ukrainian views.

Quoted from the BBC, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed and as many as 10,000 injured since the invasion began.

He provided updates on between 2,500 and 3,000 deaths in an interview with CNN. Zelensky also warned about the threat of a potential Russian nuclear strike.

A month ago, Zelensky estimated that about 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers had died. But on both occasions, he claimed far more Russian soldiers were killed.
