Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto Asks For Central Dispensation Related To Vaccination Of The Elderly

MAKASSAR - The Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) asked the central government for a dispensation, related to efforts to vaccinate COVID-19 for the elderly (elderly) which are still hampered. This constraint is because most have comorbid or congenital disease.

"We hope that the City Government can be given a dispensation, because this is not an inability to vaccinate the elderly, but because of conditions," said Danny Pomanto in Makassar, Thursday, April 14.

If you look at the requirements for the level of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), Makassar is actually already at level 1, but currently it is still at level 2.

Even though the condition is that the occupancy of rooms in hospitals or BOR in Makassar is below 1 percent, even less than 10 people are confirmed every week. However, the requirements for PPKM level 1 are incomplete data, namely the fulfillment of vaccination requirements for the elderly.

"About the elderly, not because of the incompetence of the municipal government, but because of the eligibility of the elderly, such as their blood pressure is still above 180," said Danny Pomanto.

Makassar City Government hopes that the criteria for the elderly can be revoked for Makassar, so that level 1 is applied. Given that so far all community activities have now been relaxed. According to him, in principle, it is the same as if a controller is given a controller, if it goes up its level is also increased.

"There is a level of protection. Even though our (condition) is level one, this is still level two and level of protection. We can raise one level for control. The most important thing is not to be careless. For us there is no problem, but if you want to be fair, we are already at level one," he said.

Data on the COVID-19 vaccination update for the South Sulawesi Provincial Government task force as of April 13, 2022, recorded a population vaccination target of 7,058,141 people in South Sulawesi.

For the elderly target as many as 753,919 people. Vaccination dose 1 has reached 71.53 percent or as many as 539,267 people. Vaccine dose 2 has covered 44.42 percent or as many as 334,907 people. And for the new booster vaccine 2.29 percent or as many as 22,031 people.

In cumulative terms, the total population of South Sulawesi who had been vaccinated with dose 1 reached 87.67 percent or 6,187,363 people.

For dose 2, it has reached 63.26 percent or as many as 4,465,015 people have been vaccinated. While the 3rd dose, namely the booster, only reached 5.21 percent or as many as 367,917 people.
