Basarnas Finds Lifeless 62 Year Old Elderly In North Konawe River

KENDARI - The Kendari National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) found a 62-year-old man named Ismail who was reported missing in the Lalindu River in Lamonea Village, Wiwirano, North Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi). Ismail was found dead.

Head of Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi in Kendari, Thursday, said Ismail was reported missing on Wednesday, April 13. The victim was found by the joint SAR Team after the second day of the search operation.

"The victim was found at 16.20 WITA earlier by the joint SAR team, dead about 2 kilometers south of where the victim was reported missing," he said.

After being found, the victim's body was then evacuated by the joint SAR Team to be handed over to his family for burial.

The SAR operation to search for victims on the second day involved the North Konawe SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team, Babinsa Wiwirano, North Konawe BPBD, North Konawe Fire Department, local Satpol PP, Wiwirano Police, surrounding communities and the victim's family.

The victim, who is a resident of Lamonea Village, Wiwirano District, North Konawe, was previously reported to have gone to his garden with a colleague on Wednesday, April 13, at around 13.00 WITA. However, when the victim's colleague returned at around 17.34 WITA, the victim's colleague did not find Ismail's whereabouts.

At that time, the victim's colleagues only found clothes belonging to Ismail on the banks of the Lalindu River. The family and the local community have searched but were not found so the incident was reported to the Kendari Basarnas. "With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation is declared complete and closed, all elements involved are returned to their respective units," he said.
