JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates the hard work of the TNI since the struggle for independence of the Republic of Indonesia, until now because it has always struggled to be the guardian of the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

Apart from that, this appreciation was also given because of the many contributions made by the TNI. Not only through military operations for war but also military operations other than war. Like facing natural disasters to facing the COVID-19 pandemic as it is today.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi when acting as the leader of the ceremony in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the TNI which was held online at the State Palace.

"In the long history of the TNI, the contribution of the TNI to the nation and state is not only through OMP, military operations for war, but also through OMSP military operations other than war which readily help people who are facing natural disasters, including facing the COVID-19 pandemic as it is today, "Jokowi said when delivering his message which was broadcast on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, October 5.

In his mandate, Jokowi also gave his appreciation to TNI soldiers who always guard the Republic of Indonesia and are always at the forefront of humanitarian missions.

"I also express my highest appreciation to TNI soldiers who are always at the forefront of humanitarian missions. Thank you to the TNI who is involved in handling victims of natural disasters and forest fires and thanks for the active role of the TNI in handling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. both in disciplining the application of health protocols as well as in care at TNI hospitals, "he said.

According to the former governor of DKI Jakarta, the character of TNI fighters has been embedded in soldiers all this time. However, this character must always be accompanied by synergy to work together to help each other with various parties and elements in order to build a stronger defense.

"The character of a fighter who is always ready to work together, work hand in hand with various elements of the nation, synergy between corps, synergy between elements, synergy between agencies, and synergy between TNI and Polri. Synergy is the key to building a stronger and more effective defense force, "he said.

It is this fighting character that must make the TNI always ready to answer the call of duty wherever and whenever. "Therefore, we need a professional TNI who is truly educated and trained, which continues to improve their capabilities so that they are always ready to fulfill the call of duty," he said.

Give honors and honorary members to three TNI members

In commemoration of this birthday, as a token of appreciation, President Jokowi also bestowed honors and honors for three TNI members who were deemed to have carried out more than their main duties.

This honor mark was decided by Presidential Decree No. 922, 27 / TK / 2020 concerning the Awarding of the Star of Honor Kartika Eka Paksi Nararya, Bintang Jalasena Nararya, and Bintang Swa Bhuwana Paksa Nararya which was read by Military Secretary Major General Suharyanto.

"The President considers, as a tribute to the Army, Navy and Air Force, which in the field of military duties show the ability, wisdom for advancement and development of the Indonesian Army, Navy, and Air Force without compromising their main duties," said Suharyanto when reading the Presidential Decree. in the same series of activities.

The three TNI members who received the military star were Infantry Colonel Sri Widodo who was awarded the Kartika Eka Paksi Nararya's Bintang; Marine Captain Suryo Hadi Umar was awarded the honorific Bintan Jalasena Nararya; and Assistant First Lieutenant Sobirin was awarded the honor mark of Bintang Swa Bhuwana Paksa Nararya.
