Police Who Extorted Rp1 Million Japanese Tourists In Bali Were Demoted And Put In Cells

DENPASAR - Aipda IMW who blackmailed Japanese tourists while carrying out a ticket, was sentenced to demotion. Aipda IMW was also detained in a special cell for violations.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Syamsi, said that Aipda IMW was undergoing a disciplinary hearing on September 29. Apart from Aipda IMW, Bripka IPG who was at the location when the Aipda IMW blackmailed Japanese tourists by using a ticketing mode, was also in court.

"So there are 2 people first, who carry out the extortion, subject to a demotion transfer then a special placement for 28 days," Syamsi said confirmed, Monday, October 5.

Meanwhile, Bripka IPG was also subject to demotion and placed in a special cell for 21 days. This punishment, according to Syamsi, took effect on September 30. Syamsi said Aipda IMW used the money from Japanese tourists in Bali for daily needs.

"Yes, he was proven guilty because he did not comply with the rules," said Syamsi.

Videos of police officers asking for Rp1 million when stopping foreign tourists riding motorbikes in Bali went viral on social media. This person asked for money because the lights of the tourist's motorbikes that were stopped did not turn on.

From the video circulating, this police officer stopped the motorcycle with the police number DK 3762 FU. Tourists who were stopped by a Japanese national police officer.

Initially, police officers checked the completeness of motor vehicle certificates. After that the police pointed to the light of the Japanese citizen's motorbike that didn't turn on.

These police officers then offer Japanese tourists the convenience of dealing with violations. He asked tourists to give Rp1 million.

With astonishment at the request, this Japanese tourist handed over a Rp100 thousand note. But the police rejected him, with an affirmation of the money requested for Rp1 million.

The Japanese tourist then issued another sheet of money until finally they were handed over Rp. 900 thousand. The police officers recalculated the money given in the Rp100 thousand denomination.
