Rahmat Bagja Elected As Chair Of Bawaslu For The 2022-2027 Period

JAKARTA - Rahmat Bagja was elected as Chairman of Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period through a plenary meeting of leaders at the RI Bawaslu building after being inaugurated by President Joko Widodo.

"Mr. Rahmat Bagja has been given the mandate to ensure that the collective collegial process of the RI Bawaslu leadership can run as well as possible as a step to ensure that monitoring the quality of our democracy will progress," said Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 12.

The five Bawaslu members for the 2022-2027 period agreed to choose Rahmat Bagja as the Chair of the Bawaslu. In the press conference, Lolly introduced all Bawaslu leaders for the 2022-2027 period, namely Rahmat Bagja, Puadi, Totok Haryono, Herwyn Jefler H Malonda, and Lolly Suhenty.

Bawaslu member Puadi emphasized that in determining the Chair of Bawaslu, the elected members unanimously appointed Rahmat Bagja as chairman of the Indonesian Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period.

"At the time of determining the plenary process there was no debate in determining the chairman of the RI Bawaslu," he said.

The elected Bawaslu members congratulated Rahmat Bagja who will assume the reins of leadership for the next five years.

"Congratulations to Mr. Rahmat Bagja and the election was very fluid," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated members of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) for the terms of 2022-2027 at the State Palace, Jakarta.

The President inaugurates KPU and Bawaslu members based on RI Presidential Decree Number 33P of 2022 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the General Election Commission (KPU), and RI Presidential Decree Number 34P of 2022 concerning Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).
