JAKARTA - The Central Leadership of the Youth Movement (GP) Ansor has urged the police to immediately arrest all the perpetrators of the beating of social media activists and a lecturer at the University of Indonesia, Ade Armando.

"The persecution of Ade Armando was brutal, Ansor strongly condemns. Whatever the reason, acts of violence cannot be justified. Hasan said GP Ansor was concerned about the demonstration around the DPR Building, Jakarta, Monday afternoon, which was also marked by the persecution of the lecturer at the UI Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP).

Ade Armando was seriously injured because he was abused by a number of people, so he had to be treated at the hospital. GP Ansor asked the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators to account for this heinous act.

He also assessed that the violence carried out by a number of people against Ade Armando had injured the peaceful demonstration carried out by the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI). The violence was clearly not in line with what the students were fighting for, he added.

For this reason, GP Ansor urges the perpetrators to be immediately arrested and brought to justice. He also hopes that the police can work quickly to investigate the case, because apart from making it clear who the perpetrators are, it will also make it clear what the real motive of the beating was.

"It is better for the perpetrators to surrender immediately than to take firm action from the authorities. Their actions have damaged the student action," he said.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran said six of his members were also victims of mass violence at the demonstration in the DPR RI building area. They were targeted when evacuating Ade Armando from the crowd.

"Six of our members were injured," said Inspector General Fadil.

However, this two-star general did not clearly explain the injuries suffered by his members. It was only conveyed, that six of his men had received treatment.

Fadil also promised to arrest the perpetrators of the beating. In fact, the identity of the alleged perpetrator has been pocketed.
