Anxiety Of The Head Of The KPU, Kala Wahyu Setiawan, Caught By The KPK OTT

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT) to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan this afternoon. This information was only known by KPU Chairman Arief Budiman and other KPU commissioners from the news in the media this afternoon.

When asked for confirmation at the KPU RI office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta, Arief refrained from speaking because he was still waiting for his fellow commissioners to finish the Maghrib prayer. Moreover, this case is a complicated matter.

While waiting, Arief did not show any anxiety on his face. However, VOI monitoring he scratched his head several times. He also several times grabbed the button of his shirt which had actually been linked.

Arief started to open his voice after it was right to comment.

Today, the number of KPU commissioners is incomplete. Because, there are three commissioners who are on duty outside the city. KPU commissioners who work outside the city are Wahyu Setiawan, Viryan Aziz, and Evi Novida Ginting.

He also asked this information to the WhatsApp group containing KPU commissioners. However, Arief is aware that Wahyu has never responded to group talks. Until finally, Arief was shocked to find the news that Wahyu was caught by the KPK OTT.

"Of course I was shocked," said Arief, Wednesday, January 8.

"As far as I can remember, he (Wahyu) had an assignment to Belitung in a series of 2020 Pilkada activities. This morning we in the group were still communicating. But, since this afternoon we could not be contacted," he continued.

Today, Wahyu went to Belitung from Soekarno Hatta Airport. He was accompanied by a personal staff member and several KPU public relations staff.

Wahyu's airplane seats and personal staff are separated from the PR group. When the plane landed, the public relations staff realized that Wahyu and his personal staff did not fly to Belitung.

"I received news from the public relations that Pak Wahyu has entered the airport. The info doesn't fly and leaves the airport with his personal staff," said Arief.

Arief did not want to hold back from waiting for the KPK to give an official statement until tomorrow. Arief, accompanied by three KPU commissioners, went to the KPK office to confirm the arrest. Moreover, the KPU has not yet received an official statement from the KPK regarding the alleged entanglement of Wahyu in a corruption case.

"We have not heard what news from the KPK. We want to make sure we have four of us right away. So, this wants to confirm whether it is really there, how long it takes about the clarity of the case," said Arief.

Furthermore, Arief has not been able to decide anything regarding Wahyu's position as chairman of the Indonesian KPU for the 2017-2022 period.

"I haven't been there for the procedure. I'm waiting for confirmation," concluded Arief.
