Managing Director Of PT CMIT Charged With 7 Years In Prison For Alleged Corruption In The Bakamla Project

JAKARTA - President Director of PT CMI Teknologi, Rahardjo Pratjihno, has been charged with 7 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 600 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor.

The prosecutor believes Rahardjo is guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption related to the Backbone Coastal Surveillance System project which is integrated with the Bakamla Integrated Information System.

According to the prosecutor, Rahardjo did this together with Ali Fahmi alias Fahmi Habsyi as the special staff for planning and finance appointed by Arie Soedewo as Head of Bakamla; Bambang Udoyo as PPK, Leni Marlena as Chairman of the ULP and Juli Amar Ma'ruf as the coordinator of ULP Bakamla.

According to the prosecutor, their actions were said to have caused state financial losses of Rp.63,829 billion and enriched Rahardjo by Rp. 60,329 and Ali Fahmi by Rp. 3.5 billion.

"Demanding, the panel of judges sentenced the defendant to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp. 600 million," said the KPK prosecutor when reading the letter of indictment against Rahardjo at the Corruption Court in Jakarta, Friday, October 2.

The prosecutor also demanded that the Panel of Judges impose an additional sentence on Rahardjo in the form of an obligation to pay compensation amounting to Rp. 60.329 billion in accordance with the proceeds of the crime he enjoyed. The prosecutor will confiscate and auction off Rahardjo's property if he does not pay replacement money within a month after the court's decision has permanent legal force.

"And if you do not have sufficient assets, then it will be replaced by imprisonment for 3 years," said the prosecutor.

In his demands, the prosecutor also considered mitigating things, namely, Rahardjo was old, had never been convicted and had family dependents.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor considered Rahardjo's actions not to support the government's program in eradicating and preventing corruption. Rahardjo also did not feel guilty and gave convoluted statements at the trial.

"The defendant also did not have the good faith to return the results of the criminal act of corruption which he had enjoyed," said the prosecutor.

In this case the KPK has also charged Bambang Udoyo, Leni Marlena and Juli Amar Ma'ruf as suspects in this case. In fact, this case is the second case against Bambang Udoyo.

Previously, Bambang, who was a retired Indonesian Navy officer with the last rank of Laksma, was convicted and sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in a bribery case for satellite monitoring at Bakamla.

However, Ali Fahmi, who is believed to have joined Rahardjo in committing the corruption crime against the Backbone Coastal Surveillance System project, is still walking free. In fact, Ali Fahmi is often referred to as the initiator of a number of projects in Bakamla. Ali Fahmi is also said to have played a role in distributing money to a number of DPR members to smooth the project budget at Bakamla.
