Residents Of Pattalasang Gowa Blockade Of Severely Damaged Axis Road

MAKASSAR - Residents of Pattalasang Village, Pattalasang District, Gowa Regency, blocked the provincial highway as a form of protest because the condition was badly damaged and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government had not repaired it.

"The condition of this road is already badly damaged and has big potholes, the provincial government should fix it because it is a provincial road, connecting Makassar, Gowa and Maros," said local resident representative, Suwandy, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 7.

The road closure has been going on since Monday, April 4, 2022, until now. Vehicles that will cross the road must make a detour because it was intentionally blocked by residents so that the damage does not get worse. Although repaired patchwork, only a matter of months, the road was damaged again.

"It has been closed for four days. Residents are tired of promises, while the roads are getting worse, especially after it rains. It should only be concreted, because the trucks that pass here are mostly heavy trucks, sand and heaps of earth," he explained.

Another resident, Ramli, said that the access road in Pattalasang had started to deteriorate since the rainy season, and the potholes slowly started, from small to large, and eventually became heavily damaged, with holes making it difficult for vehicles to pass.

"We must pay attention to this road immediately, so that there are no fatalities before it is repaired. The South Sulawesi Provincial Government must immediately act to repair the road, we are also paying taxes for development," he emphasized.

Responding to the actions of local residents, the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUTR) of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, Astina Abbas, promised that repairs to the road axis in Pattalasang Village, the Bird-Bili-Bili route will be carried out this year.

"The road section will be worked on soon. This is already in the DPA (Budget Filling Document). There is a budget and it will be done this year. Meanwhile, the document is still preparing to enter the auction stage," he said.

He said the budget for the repair of the road was planned for Rp. 6.5 billion for asphalting and hardening the road shoulders using concrete. Three roads will be worked on, namely Jalan Yasin Limpo, Burung-Bili to Bili-Bili Malino, Gowa and Birds to Benteng Gajah, Maros.

The PTUR has also come down to provide understanding to the community so as not to close the road and promised to immediately repair the local axle so that traffic flow can run normally again. However, road repairs are still waiting for a tender auction.
