8 Suspects In The Makar Case For Raising The Morning Star Flag Delegated By The Regional Police To The Papua Prosecutor's Office

JAYAPURA - Investigators from the Direskrimum Papua Regional Police (Polda) have transferred eight suspects in the treason case to the High Court.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Kamal, said that the eight suspects were handed over after the Papuan Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigation report (BAP) was complete.

The eight suspects handed over to the Papua Prosecutor's Office were Malvin Yobe, Melvin Fernando Waine, Zode Hilapok, Devio Tekege, Maximus Simon Petrus You, Luis Kitok Uropmabin, Yosep Ernesto Matuan, and Ambros Fransiskus Elopere.

The handover of the eight suspects was carried out on Wednesday (6/4). The suspects were involved in the case of raising the Morning Star Flag on December 1, 2021.

The Public Prosecutor of the Papuan High Court stated that the case files for the eight suspects were complete (P-21) in accordance with Letter Number: B-24/R.1.4/Eku 1/03/2022 dated March 24, 2022.

From this case, he said, investigators have examined 14 witnesses and three expert witnesses from digital forensics, criminal law experts, and linguists.

The eight suspects were charged with Article 106 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 110 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 87 of the Criminal Code with a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison or life, said Kamal.

Malvin Yobe and seven suspects were arrested after raising the Morning Star flag in the courtyard of the Cenderawasih Sports Building (GOR), which was followed by "longmars" to the DPRP Office on December 1, 2021.
