Jokowi Asks His Ministers To Stop Fried Discourse On Election Delay

JAKARTA - The ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet must comply with President Joko Widodo's order, which asks the public not to bring up or bring up the issue of postponing elections or extending the presidential term to the public.

"I certainly hope that President Jokowi's orders are obeyed by all members of the cabinet. There should be no more cabinet members talking about postponing elections, extending the presidential term to 2027, and president for 3 terms," said Deputy Chairman of Commission II DPR RI Luqman Hakim, Wednesday. Luqman said, Jokowi's remarks must also be interpreted as a cessation of all maneuvers and mobilization of support from elements of society to support the postponement of elections, the extension of the presidential term of 2027, and the president for 3 terms by seeking to create conditions for the amendment of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

According to him, the President's statement is correct that all of the nation's energy must focus on overcoming various problems that ensnare and make the people suffer.

"Starting to increase the price of fuel and basic foodstuffs. People's lives are getting more difficult. It is very unethical if the elites are busy maneuvering to perpetuate their power," he said.

Luqman said that President Jokowi's orders to cabinet ministers complemented Jokowi's refusal to serve as president for three terms that had been conveyed several times before.

Therefore, he said, President Jokowi's order deserves appreciation and his firmness has been eagerly awaited by the Indonesian people.

"Hopefully President Jokowi's order will be the 'tombstone' of the grave about postponing elections, extending the presidential term in 2027, and being president for three terms," he said.

The PKB politician said that one of the important jobs was to complete the discussion of the stages and schedule of the 2024 General Election between the KPU, Ministry of Home Affairs, DPR, Bawaslu, and DKPP.

In addition, he continued, it is necessary to immediately ensure that there is an adequate budget allocation for the state budget for the implementation of the 2024 election stage, which should start in June 2022.

President Jokowi had previously ordered his ministers to focus on work. They were asked to stop talking about postponing the election or extending the presidential term.

"Don't cause polemics in the community. Focus on working in dealing with the difficulties we face," said Jokowi when opening the Plenary Cabinet Session which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube on Wednesday, April 6.

He reminded his ministers to have a sensitive attitude or sense of crisis to the difficulties experienced by society today. According to Jokowi, it is more important for his ministers to explain to the public regarding the difficult global situation.
