Roy Surya Opens Jokowi's Digital Footprint: Used To Say BLT Doesn't Educate The People, Now It's Inconsistent In Distributing IDR 300 Thousand To The People

JAKARTA - The digital footprint of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who refused to provide direct cash assistance or the Community Temporary Direct Assistance (BLSM) program has been reopened. At that time, Jokowi was still serving as the Governor of DKI Jakarta with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok as his deputy.

Jokowi emphasized that BLSM as compensation for the increase in subsidized fuel prices did not educate the people. Compensation should be given in the form of financial assistance to productive businesses, such as small businesses and household businesses.

"I've always disliked cash assistance, if it could be given for productive businesses. From the beginning I didn't agree with BLT, the balsam (BLSM) as well, all of them," said Jokowi in a video clip circulating.

Roy quipped at Jokowi's consistent attitude, which changed drastically when he gave compensation of Rp. 300 thousand for the increase in the price of cooking oil in the market.

In an announcement held last Friday, Jokowi emphasized that the government had set the amount of BLT for cooking oil at IDR 300 thousand for each recipient for three months.

The award is scheduled to be implemented in one distribution starting this April. Meanwhile, the intended target is around 20.5 million people who are included in the list of recipients of non-cash food assistance and the family of hope program.
