JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of DKI DPRD, Muhammad Taufik, responded to the plan to provide a special COVID-19 grave area at the Rorotan Public Cemetery (TPU), North Jakarta.
Taufik disagrees with the plan. Because, according to him, Rorotan is a lowland area close to the sea in North Jakarta.
"I don't know yet, what shape the land looks like in Rorotan. Could it be, digging half a meter, it is watery. This is a hassle," said Taufik when met at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 30.
According to Taufik, the location of the special COVID-19 burial can still be accommodated in Pondok Ranggon and Tegal Alur cemeteries. After all, he said, the cemetery land for the Pondok Ranggon cemetery is being expanded by 1.3 hectares.
"My advice is, this is Tegal Alur and Pondok Ranggon. Pondok Ranggon allows for expansion, expansion," said the Gerindra politician.
"Even though people who died from COVID-19, the burial procedure must still be good. Maybe in Rorotan it needs to be dredged first," he continued.
For information, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again prepared a burial ground for bodies related to COVID-19, both those that have been confirmed positive and suspected, at Rorotan TPU.
The work on the provision of a special COVID-19 grave land was carried out by the DKI Bina Marga Agency. Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency, Hari Nugroho, said the land being prepared is 20 thousand square meters or 2 hectares.
"With a grave area of two hectares, it is estimated that it can accommodate 6,000 grave plots," said Hari.
Hari said that the provision of grave land at Rorotan Cemetery has been done since 17 September. It is hoped that the land will be ready for use in December.
Currently, Hari said, the Bina Marga Office is still finalizing the access road to the TPU covering an area of 210 square meters. "Now it has only reached four percent. Again, the process of filling and making access roads to the burial ground," he explained.
