Survey Of Indicators: Public Trust In KPK Has Slumped Since 2019

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Political Indicators Survey Institute released a poll on public trust in state institutions or institutions. As a result, the level of public trust in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has experienced a downward trend over the past three years.

"Trust towards the KPK if we look at the trend data, there is a decline," said Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi in the survey presentation, Sunday, April 3.

As of February 2022, public trust in this anti-corruption agency is 74 percent. In fact, in September 2018, his confidence level had touched 84.8 percent.

Then, in February 2019, the public trust figure began to decline to 80.3 percent. Then in September 2020 it decreased again to 72 percent, decreasing again in November 2021 to 71.1 percent. This figure began to increase slightly in February 2022 to 74 percent.

"Since 2018 was the first time the KPK (public trust) has been detected, we have detected quite a high level of trust. Then from 2019, 2020, 2021 to 2022, the trust has fallen," he said.

In fact, in 2018, the level of public trust in the KPK had exceeded the level of trust in the Police and the Prosecutor's Office. However, after the revision of the KPK Law, the trend continued to decline.

"The KPK was once part of an institution that was trusted by the public apart from the TNI and the President, but lately it seems that the KPK is facing issues, especially after the revision of the KPK Law. back to normal," he explained.

In more detail, currently the highest level of trust in institutions is occupied by the TNI with 93 percent of the public who claim to believe in the TNI, followed by the President with 85 percent trust.

The next institution is the Supreme Court with a confidence level of 79 percent, the Constitutional Court 78 percent, the National Police 76 percent, the courts 74 percent, the KPK 74 percent, the prosecutor's office 74 percent, the MPR 67 percent, the DPD 65 percent, the DPR 61 percent, and finally political parties 54 percent. .

For information, this survey was conducted on 11-21 February 2022. The population of this survey is Indonesian citizens who have the right to vote in general elections, namely those who are 17 years old or older, or were married when the survey was conducted.

The survey was conducted using a multistage random sampling method using a base sample of 1,200 people. The survey's margin of error is estimated at 2.9 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
