JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said "Marhaban ya Ramadhan" or welcome to the month of Ramadan, and happy fasting for Muslims.

"Marhaban, Ramadan. Welcome Ramadhan. The month of forgiveness. The month of doubling the reward of worship and kindness," said Jokowi through the Instagram account @jokowi quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 2. Jokowi conveyed that the COVID-19 pandemic situation, which improved in 2022, has brought optimism so that Muslims can perform tarawih prayers in congregation in mosques. , while remaining disciplined in implementing health protocols.

Jokowi also prayed so that in this month of Ramadan, all Muslim worship will be launched, facilitated, and accepted by Allah SWT. "Happy fasting," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Religion set the beginning of fasting or 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri/2022 AD to fall on Sunday (3/4), after it was decided through the isbat session on Friday (1/4).

This decision is similar to that issued by the Nadhlatul Ulama Executive Board which decided 1 Ramadan on Sunday.

"It is unanimous that 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri will fall on Sunday (Sunday) April 3, 2022," said Minister of Religion, Yaqut Qoumas. On Friday (1/4) he stated that out of 101 hilal monitoring points spread across Indonesia, it was reported that they had seen no hilal.

The Muhammadiyah Central Leadership organization has determined that 1 Ramadan will fall on Saturday (2/4) based on the actual reckoning method of the new moon.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ulema Council asked Muslims to make the difference in the determination of the start of fasting Ramadan a blessing and not reduce the meaning of togetherness in the slightest.
