Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Asks Muslims To Stay Disciplined During Ramadan 2022 Worship

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has asked Muslims who carry out the Ramadan 2022 worship to remain disciplined with health protocols (prokes) to prevent exposure to COVID-19.

"Welcome to the month of Ramadan 1443 H, happy fasting for Muslims. Allowances don't make people careless, stay disciplined and obey the prokes because they don't want the COVID-19 transmission rate to rise again," said Puan in a statement in Jakarta, Friday 1 March, launched Antara.

He is grateful because in this year's Ramadan, Muslims can perform tarawih prayers in congregation at the mosque but must still follow the government's recommendations.

Puan appealed to Muslims to follow the instructions of the managers of places of worship who have coordinated with the COVID-19 Task Force in carrying out worship during the month of Ramadan.

"I am happy, Islamic organizations such as Muhammadiyah have made detailed rules regarding the implementation of Ramadan worship in mosques. This step is to protect the congregation, so that it is safe to carry out worship in the holy month without reducing solemnity," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of implementing health protocols during worship in the month of Ramadan because it is hoped that the number of COVID-19 transmissions will continue to decline.

In addition, Puan appealed to people who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine to immediately go to the vaccination center to get the vaccine.

He considered that vaccination could help provide protection from the dangers of the COVID-19 virus.

"For people who haven't been vaccinated, get vaccinated immediately, including those who haven't had a booster. Because apart from protecting themselves, vaccines can also protect others, including our family and loved ones," he said.

According to him, the vaccine is also important especially for people who are going home because millions of people will move simultaneously to various regions.
