The COVID-19 Task Force Changes The Status Of Karimun And Bintan To Low-Risk Transmission Zones

KEPRI - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 changed the status of the COVID-19 zone in the Riau Islands (Kepri). Karimun District and Bintan District changed to yellow zone or low risk of transmission from orange zone or moderate risk of transmission.

The Daily Head of the Riau Islands COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Eko Sumbaryadi, said that the previously yellow zone areas included Batam City, Anambas Islands Regency and Lingga Regency.

"So, there are already four districts and one city in the Riau Islands in the yellow zone along with the decline in the number of active cases in the area. Currently, only Natuna and Tanjungpinang Regencies are left as orange zones," said the acting Regional Secretary for Riau Islands in Tanjungpinang, Thursday, March 31, as reported by Antara. .

To be designated a green zone, he said, the area must have zero active cases for a month.

"We ask residents to consistently apply health protocols when doing their activities and support the vaccination program," he said.

Eko detailed that the number of active cases in Riau Islands was 386 people, a drastic decrease compared to February which reached 3 thousand people. There are 34 active cases in Riau Islands, 34 in Tanjungpinang, 73 in Bintan, 46 in Karimun, eight in Anambas, nine in Lingga and 61 in Natuna.

"The number of active cases is highest in Tanjungpinang. However, the number of active cases in this city is much less than last month," he said.

Currently, he said, no patient has died from COVID-19. However, the number of people who died from COVID-19 in the region since the pandemic until now has reached 1,890 people, spread over 905 people in Batam, 430 people in Tanjungpinang, 199 people in Bintan, 175 people in Karimun, 49 people in Anambas, 87 people in Lingga and 45 people in Natuna. .

"Death cases due to COVID-19 are much reduced. Most of them occur in 2020-2021. Now, many patients recover quickly, while those who die on average have comorbidities. Thank God, the numbers are also small," he said.
