Police Explore The Motives Behind The KRL Shooting: Air Rifles Can Be Owned By The Community

JAKARTA - The police are investigating the motive behind the shooting of the 2138 electric rail train (KRL) on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung connection around Kebayoran station. This is because it is strongly suspected that the shooting came from an air rifle that can be owned by the general public.

"This air rifle can indeed be owned by the public, therefore we are still investigating the motive for shooting the moving train," said Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Thursday, March 31.

The investigation into the shooter was carried out by examining the projectiles that had been confiscated. The Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor) will collect all information about the type of air rifle that is identical to the projectile.

"Investigators have received projectiles and investigated them," he said.

An examination of the train officer as a witness has also been carried out. The goal is to collect supporting evidence to find the perpetrators of the shooting.

On the other hand, Zulpan appealed to the public not to take actions that disrupt public order. Moreover, actions that violate the rules.

"We urge the public that things like this seriously disturb public order, intentionally or unintentionally, this is not justified by law," said Zulpan.

Previously, KRL 2138 for the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung connection was shot by an unknown person on Wednesday, March 30. The shot hit the glass on the right side of the fifth carriage.

Luckily, there were no casualties or injuries in the shooting. The police are currently investigating the case by gathering evidence and clues.
