JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the alleged corruption case in the purchase of liquefied natural gas or LNG from PT Pertamina had entered the investigation stage. The suspect's name has been pocketed at this time.

"This is indeed true (it is at the investigation stage, ed)," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto, quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Thursday, March 31.

However, Karyoto does not want to talk much about the suspects in this alleged corruption case. The suspects will be announced at the same time as the forced detention.

"We haven't announced in detail. There are many factors that I can't reveal," he said.

The public is now asked to be patient and continue to monitor the development of this case. Karyoto confirmed that investigators are now looking for evidence to strengthen their suspicions against the perpetrators.

"Later in time we will tell the public how to handle this case," said Karyoto. As previously reported, the investigation into the alleged corruption in the purchase of PT Pertamina's LNG was originally carried out by the Attorney General's Office. However, this case was recently handed over to the KPK.

The handover was carried out because from the results of coordination, it was known that the anti-corruption commission was also investigating the corruption case. The investigation into the alleged corruption has been carried out by the Attorney General's Office since March 22, 2021.

For information, last February Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said the company reviewed the plan to purchase LNG from Mozambique LNG1 Company Pte Ltd of 1 million tons of LNG per year (MTPA) or around 17 cargoes per year starting at the end of 2024 or early 2025 for a period of 20 years. .
