Wanting The Trial To Be Held Offline, Bahar Smith Refuses To Leave The West Java Police Detention Room

BANDUNG - Lecturer Bahar Smith is reportedly reluctant to attend the online trial by refusing to leave the West Java Police Detention Room (Rutan).

Public Prosecutor (JPU) Suharja said he received the news from officers at the West Java Regional Police. According to him, Bahar wants to attend the trial in person or offline at the Bandung District Court (PN).

"Please, Your Honor, we have received news from the West Java Regional Police, Bahar Smith is not willing to take part in the online trial," said Suharja at the Bandung District Court, West Java, Antara, Tuesday, March 29.

Thus, the prosecutor asked that the trial be held even though Bahar was not willing to attend the trial with the agenda of reading the indictment.

"We want to submit a written letter so that this trial can be held online, because there are obstacles if the trial is offline," said Suharja.

The plan, said Suharja, is that Bahar Smith's trial will be held online. Then according to him, the trial in person or offline will be held at the time of the verdict hearing.

Meanwhile, Bahar Smith's attorney, Azis Yanuar, said that this was indeed Bahar Smith's wish. Because the online trial has communication barriers.

"It should be like that (offline), because this is outdated, this is an obstacle, we want to be presented, because this is an obstacle," said Azis.

Because Bahar refuses to take part in the online trial, the panel of judges together with the prosecutors and their attorneys are still looking for a solution to be able to continue the trial.

In this case, Bahar is entangled with the case of spreading false news. The plan is Tuesday prosecutors will deliver the charges against Bahar Smith.
