Terrorism Convict Freed From Malang Women's Prison

MALANG - An inmate prisoner (WBP) in a terrorism case with the initials A was released purely from the Class IIA Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) in Malang, East Java, after serving a sentence of 5.5 years.

Plt. Head of the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the East Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Wisnu Nugroho Dewanto, said that A was released after serving the full sentence according to the verdict of the panel of judges.

"He was released because he has finished serving his criminal term," said Wisnu in a written statement received in Malang City, East Java, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 28.

Wisnu explained that while serving his sentence at the Class IIA Women's Prison in Malang, A was kind and did not cause a fuss. A is also very cooperative when asked to provide information by the prison internal party.

"Similarly, when assisting with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) they are always cooperative," he said.

On that occasion, the Head of Class IIA Malang Women's Prison Tri Anna Aryati added that while serving her sentence, A never got the right of remission, assimilation, or integration. personality and independence for certain reasons. A also did not want to declare his pledge of allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

"Since the beginning here, we have given the right to take part in self-reliance training, such as knitting, batik, cooking, and personality in prison boarding schools. However, due to health reasons, A cannot follow all these trainings," he said.

With the release of A, the Class IIA Malang Women's Prison has coordinated with law enforcement officers, namely the Special Detachment (Densus) 88, Malang City Police, and Kodim 0833 Sukun.

The panel of judges from the East Jakarta District Court (PN) sentenced A to 5 years in prison for financing two ISIS supporters. A was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
